Skaali Quartet is a Norwegian jazz quartet that explores a distinctive and heartfelt melodic landscape through original compositions and improvisations. The quartets goal with their music is to both catch and challenge the listeners with a combination of tonal clarity and rhythmical intricacies, all the while keeping a solid footing within the traditions of jazz music. The music is characterized by strong melodic themes, energetic improvisations and an exploration of a modern and personal expression.
The 1st of September 2023, Skaali Quartet released their debut album Headed For Something on AMP Music & Records.
The music on Headed For Something is characterized by its distinctive tunes which are made up of strong melodies, harmonically rich chord-progressions, intricate forms and energetic improvisations. The unique blend of guitar and vibraphone during the composition's melodies
are one of the key features of the quartet's sound which are backed up beautifully by Bendik’s syncopated bass lines and Steinar’s light and swingin’ touch on the drums.
